CLEAR ADVENTISM
Adventism’s unique contribution has never been limited to explaining how the world began, but to revealing how God will bring the plan of redemption to a just, glorious, and everlasting conclusion. Within the biblical framework of the sanctuary and through the lens of the cosmic conflict, Adventism seeks to show how God restores the divine image in fallen humanity, defeats evil, vindicates His character, and inaugurates an eternal kingdom.
Yet today many central themes are clouded by confusion.
• Is the Bible inspired and the only Word of God? What about the time before the Bible existed—was there no Word of God then? If the Spirit of Prophecy is inspired, how should we understand its relation to the Word of God?
• Yes, there is a heavenly sanctuary—but what exactly is it? Scripture begins with the Garden of Eden, moves to the sanctuary and temple, the New Testament opens with the kingdom of heaven and ends with the New Jerusalem. Are these the same reality or different?
• How are the cleansing of the sanctuary and the investigative judgment related—are they identical, or distinct events with distinct purposes?
• How should we distinguish “signs of the end” from the events of the end? Is the national Sunday law a sign, or an event, or both?
• What constitutes “present truth” in our time? How do the three angels’ messages relate to one another?
• What is Last Generation Theology? Why is it controversial? Is there such a thing as “sinless perfection”? How do we distinguish judicial perfection from experiential maturity?
• Adventism is blessed with a health message from Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy. Yet how should evidence-based, peer-reviewed literature relate to our health ministry? What is its role and what are its limits?
When such questions arise, it is natural to reflect on our methods. Are our current interpretive approaches adequate? Why do we experience more confusion than our pioneers? Could our methods be refined? And must we assume that only Western-developed methodologies are valid, or is there room to recognize other biblically faithful ways of knowing and understanding?
Clear Adventism exists to respond to this need. Our aim is to articulate Adventist belief with clarity and coherence, so that we may contribute, however modestly, to the church’s God-given mission—strengthening its theological clarity, spiritual conviction, and united witness as the “present truth” is proclaimed to the world.
